My time at Ghost was fruitful and eye opening. It was one full of learning and growth. I was emersed in an environment of innovation and passion for making great products. During that time, I had the chance to gain hand on experience on multiple fronts from idea creation to prototypes, handling communication with CMs, modify documents for lawyers, and even preparing investor meeting slides. It was a dynamic experience mainly focused on building and developing the second-generation handheld vaporizer product. We were able to move from the ID phase to the production of 10 working unit in the EVT phase with a fully integrated internal parts designed for mass production. The unit included Li-ion battery, OLED display, heating element, and a push button. Although, I cannot share specifics about this experience, I will try and highlight some of my activities from that period.
I took initiatives to help Marketing present our product in trade fairs and shows. One project that I was motivated to developed in collaboration with the marketing team is the MV8, a collection of 8 MV1 vaporizers lined up, wired though their PCBs to fire all the same time. During my leisure I have decided to open the devices and solder the push buttons of all 8 devices so that they can be controlled with one button. I then designed and ordered a simple PCB to make the wiring neat and tidy. The display looked great in marketing events and people were thrilled to try it. It was a lovely promotional piece and a conversation opener.
Another project done was suggested by my colleague Daniel, who proposed an idea of a holster for our product. I quickly made a CAD mockup and 3D printed it using an FDM printer with PLA material. It was a nice accessory piece and a fun experiment. Finally, in collaboration with my supervisor Steve, we have developed a product concept for a small vaporizer that is inspired by the pipe. The user can easily hold and manipulate the device and store it, added to it the convenience of easy cleaning of the removable crucible.
